A Few Things...
1. Wow @ those old pictures... I knew Dustin was hiding them somewhere. That night was fucking epic. We barely escaped a police bust at the world's quietest afterparty by hopping into an escape car... A BMW convertible that our friend just happened to be driving. Oh yeah, that's after I hid in the pantry next to the kitty litter. But I digress.
2. Paige is coming to Miami on Thursday, and every time I think about it, I pee myself a little bit.
3. I'm going running today for the first time in a *LONG* time. 4 miles used to be a breeze for me, let's see how it goes... If I make it out alive, I'll be sure to let the loyal BFB readers how it goes :)
4. These next 2 weeks are going to actually be AMAZING.
5. Halloween? Considering most of my friends are going to be out of town for my FAVORITE holiday of the year, I'm thinkin I need to do some serious planning instead of procrastinating as I normally do. Last year was retardedly amazing. Jane Fonda + Slutty Baseball player Paige = 3 nights of halloween amazingness. Ideas, anyone?
6. Dustin Edward Photography!!! You guys need to check out the awesome work of this cutie pie! It's the first link on the links on the righthand side. His photos are the ones that Paige posted below! Check out the site and while you're at it, check out Jason Tyler's myspace page for some jams, also on the list of links!
Zat is all.

Public Speaking
I have my third speech tomorrow for my public speaking class. My first one was about introducing a classmate, second was Obama's Economic plan, and my third is a "Special Occasioin," speech, meaning a toast, a fake acceptance speech, or for some interesting occasion. I haven't written it yet.
My first idea, inspired by watching Across the Universe last night, was to write a speech as if I was at a celebratory party for The Beatles getting signed to their first record label, as if I was a manager, or a close friend of one of the Liverpool boys. Then I thought... hm... I could be Yoko Ono on a press conference in the 70's? Nah. Both of these, to be done with just the right amount of facts and wit, would take way too much effort for a class that I usually don't spend too much time on.
So, with those ideas shot down, I think it's more appropriate for me to write an acceptance speech for being voted Biggest Procrastinator of All Time. Maybe make it entertaining, funny, but short and sweet. The only problem is, once I get started on examples of what makes me the biggest procrastinator of all time, the list would be too long, and I'd probably end up putting it off.

Ike, you suck!!!
Well after a weekend of binge drinking and grove outings, I woke up this morning to check the path of Hurricane Ike, thinking that Miami was going to get smacked sometime around Tuesday. That being said, this was the weather.com image that came up, and let me explain why I'm actually pissed off that it didn't come closer.

Ok, so when we were little kids growing up in Miami, without thinking about the damage these storms can actually do, every kid always wanted a hurricane to hit because, like the northerners that pray for snow days, we would get "hurricane days," in which school would be cancelled, we could sleep as late as we wanted, and play monopoly with flashlights and battery powered everything. Now, I'm not a little kid anymore so I do know how potentially awful a storm can be, BUT my mom and I already had tickets booked to go to New York on Monday to "evacuate!"
Did I mention it's both Jake AND Paigeys birthdays this week? So call me selfish or immature, but dude... Ike sucks! It's not even close to hitting us, so my mom refunded the plane tickets, meaning instead of arriving at JFK early afternoon tomorrow, I'm still going to be in this stupid place getting wasted at the grove and meeting douche bags. At least I have my 32nd street champs to keep me thoroughly entertained, because after a TEASE like this, I would be pretty upset.
So anyways, this weekend was one big blur, so without going into too much detail, I'll just write about last night. Monte had a bbq turned crazy pool party kegger last night for the Canes-Gators game, in which (as expected) the Gators whooped some major Cane butt. So even if they would have won, either way, there was a perfect excuse for 50+ drunk college kids/recent college grads to get even drunker and actually convince themselves that flip cup and pool volleyball really are competitive sports. I guess this was my first REAL college party? Like, one that revolves around "the game," everyone was actually wearing orange and green. I played my first game ever of flip cup, did a 2 second keg stand, and got in on some beer pong (my personal fave).
Funny sidenote-- When I would tell people that "yes I am a senior," and "no, really, I've never played flip cup," they just could NOT understand how that was possible, so I just responded with, "well while most girls were making out with frat boys and playing these games like Kings and doing kegstands, I was 18 years old and promoting for a club downtown, making more than you pay in rent." They didn't like that answer. I wasn't trying to sound like that was better than the alternative, but I immediately became a confusion in the drunk minds of these kids. So I decided to play pool volleyball, partake in all these other "house party," traditions (in my usual vocabulary, a house party refers to a euro-trash yuppie party at some swanky venue on south beach, but apparently it just means having massive amounts of people over) and to be honest with you, I had a fucking blast! It's funny because I feel so out of my element, but it's cool! You don't have to pay $8 for a beer, put up with parking and cover fees, and waiting for a drink, etc. See? Doesn't this sound ridiculous?
Basically, I've realized it now! I guess I'm just doing everything backwards? hmm.. interesting. Random Girl strikes again!

Y Tu Mama Tambien
Ladies night at La Casa de Whiz y Christian tonight, having been feeling pretty shitty lately, decided not to go out on the town for a raunchy sweaty Miami night.
Came over in tears to Whiz, and after a cuddle/cry session, we decided to have a smoke and open up a bottle of House Wine, a dry, cheap chardonnay that we love and hate at the same time. Whiz takes out the red and green wine glasses and pours out the emotional juice into the glasses which are fairly new and actually quite charming.
"Red or green?"
....hmmmm
"Red."
"Here's to keeping the past in your heart..." --Pause-- "... and embracing the present."
We assumed the potsmoking, wine drinking positions on the couch. And pressed play.
Y Tu Mama Tambien showed up on the widescreen hugeass TV in front of us.
Christian came in about a third of the way through the film. We passed the bowl to him, took a smoke break that lasted about 3 and a half cigarettes deep between Whiz and I. She told me some stories about her childhood and I felt happy that she let me in on these personal details.
We go inside. I sit on the reclining part of the couch. Christian is showered and watching tennis. We press play. The movie is at the part where the car breaks down as the boys and Luisa are talking about highly sexual things. Good shit.
Movie continues and it was so good that we only took one more smoke break til the end. I go to the fridge to check out the skimpy selection of booze in the grove duplex that I hang in more than my own home. I see 2 Modelo beers that Christian took from his home in Orlando. Bottle of wine is empty, and Whiz gets sleepy and tells us she's sorry that she can't hang anymore.
I open the two Modelos and Christian and I cuddle on the couch talking about how hot Andy Roddick is, and the ginger-kid he is playing against on the TV, watching the US Open. I get a few text messages, which makes Christian flinch, because of the vibrating of my awesome new Blackberry Curve on the couch.
I decide it's time to go home. I get in my car, light a smoke, and turn the radio to 93.1 only to hear Smashing Pumpkins' "1979," playing with the bass turned up, the trebble 3/4s of the way, and I arrive at my house before the song ends. Shame. Great song for a night like this.
I gently, quietly, unlock the door, hoping my mom is sleeping upstairs and not on the couch by the foyer. I open my computer, watch a video on Hurricane Andrew's destruction, sneak back downstairs, pour a paper cup full of my dad's chardonnay, and decide it's time to write.
The chardonnay is dry, cold, perfect. For once, all I can hear is my fan in my room, and I am without any rock n roll, SHOCKING. So here I am, everyone is out, asleep, or reading (I'd like to think?) and I pause every 30 seconds to reply to a message on my phone.

A Thought Part Deux
You know, I was just at a buddy's house in downtown. And I heard approximately 7 gunshots. Most would laugh. But I don't.
Maybe I would have before.
Maybe it would have been the perfect setup for a silly joke about my city, Miami, and how corrupt everything is.
Maybe it would have been an ignorant, yet humorous, comment about the times, the area, the oblivious, reckless disparity that sometimes overcome human beings.
But you know what? Having a gun just feet---inches---from a dear friend, and your own head, should not be the catalyst for waking the fuck up.
This city... this world... is not safe. Wake the fuck up and realize that there are some people that will never touch a computer, never feel air conditioning, never know anything but poverty, and a small percentage will get so desperate that they will do anything to feel some of our comfort.
And by "our," I mean the people that are privileged enough to touch, let alone own, a computer, a cell phone, a home...
And by no means am I preaching about being overly neurotic about one's own safety or situations, and some people on the streets aren't malicious or ill-intended. However, it shouldn't take a gun to the head for everyone to realize this world and the reality of many people's situation. People don't necessarily mean to cause harm or disturbance, they just get desperate. And want what you have. And at times, it means they will take ruthless, heartless actions to show you how needy they truly are. Don't let yourself be fooled by people, and don't be fucking naive about the world we all live in.
Again, I'm not saying this to lecture anyone. I do not feel above anyone, especially not my friends that read this. All I'm saying is it shouldn't take what I went through to be aware. Don't assume everyone is good. Born good? Tabula rasa? Born evil? Locke? Rousseau's theory of social corruption? Over your head?
Well layman's terms: To avoid a life-threatening situation, and to avoid pity for me or the other person involved, (because in reality, I do not want either) please just have a heads up that sometimes people do truly evil things out of desperation, which can be life-changing for the "victim." Again, this is not to preach, lecture, provoke pity or attention; It is simply to raise awareness that NOBODY is immortal. And bad people do exist in the world, for one reason or another. Just don't take anything or anyone for granted in every way that you'd like to interpret that.
Apologies all around to anyone that is upset or offended by this entry. Just on my mind and this is the true reason I created this blog in the first place-- to spill my fucking guts.

Weeked Recap: Miami Style
Money $hot sure was fun... I think... Here's a pic of me and Obi in all our drunken glory...

I'm busy... no pictures please!

Me and Alain taking a rest

Obi, Alexi and Malika Conga line??

Typical:

Hey dj, turn down the music I can't hear shat!

Me and obi keep the dance party going, even when we're too drunk to really remember doing any of this

Absolutely NO heart. HAHAHAH

Identify yourselves please. WOW! did we all get the same box-hair-dye???

Me and Whiz are in LOVE at Midtown 4 Unzipped fashion show!

Token hungover, under-rested, over-partied, emo Lex shot:

Oh Shut up.

It's Been...
Over a month since I've been home from New York.
Looking back at the posts I made while I was waiting to go, then when I was there, I really can't believe how many life-changing moments I've been through since June.
Been doing some thinking about what moves to make after I graduate this May. New York was tough, but I'm thinking I want to go back. At least if I can find a good job, I will. I have recently been doing the job-hunt once again, since my internship at the ad agency ends next week. I know what I want to do, I just need to graduate already! Don't worry when I'm highly successful and happy as ever one day, I'll still remember the little people.
Goal #1 for this next year would be saving money. Cause FUCK! I cannot wait to get out of the house, and wherever it is I choose to go, as I have quickly learned in NY, money flies away. It's harder to save money than it is to make money, but WOW sometimes money's hard to make alone!
On another note, my iTunes library has reached a respectable 1,050+ songs as opposed to last week when I decided to start from scratch after the *CASE OF THE STOLEN MACBOOK.* It may not be 10,000 (eff you Jake) but it's a start. I need suggestions, NOW! I'm determined to get back everything I had and MORE.
Also, last week Whiz and I went to the coconut grove public library and got library cards and a bunch of silly reading material! The little things that make me happy are what makes my cuddle wagon friends call me the random one, I guess. Oh whatever, you love it.
This Saturday a truly exceptional band from Delray Beach is going to be playing the Titanic in Miami, down by UM. If you're a close friend, you know this is a night I've been looking forward to for a while now, meaning you will be there with me, and if you're in the other catagory of random friends, I'm going to be working on a flyer to promote the show a bit, which will be coming sometime in the next few days. But for now, check out NRWO.net or Nothing Rhymes With Orange myspace. Killer band! It should be fun.
Back to work. Not much "work," though considering my lovely boss is out of the office today.
Laters.

Lovely, Lovely Night.
As hilariously ironic juxtaposition to the post that my dear buddy Pagina wrote last night, I am going to finally fucking say it and mean it. I had one of the best nights I've had in a really long time. Wine, amazing music, even better company, conversations I've been wanting to have, sushi, relaxing... So fucking worth the drive. And anyone that's close to me knows how nervous I was. I have remembered why I live my life the way I do. Taking risks, a leap of faith perhaps... Sometimes turns out to hurt like hell, but in this case, I am glad to be the chick I am today, making spontaneity a way of life, for better or for worse.
Yeeeeeesh.... serious post... I know noone likes these. Don't. Care.

How Do YOU Feel About This 1.
While some of my best friends are all shrooming at Bisco right now in Albany, I am laying in bed listening to dirty 90's grunge rock in steaming hot SoFla unable to sleep, and socially retarded at the current moment.
Random. Yes.
Random. Yes.
