Adventures of Jake and Alexi

So Jake just left yesterday morning, and after three nights of crazy partying, one bat mitzvah, and many smokes later, I am still alive.

The most shocking thing to happen this whole weekend? I actually have a video clip on my phone of Jake saying "I love Miami," completely sober. Wow... the New Yorker digs this place. I have a feeling it may have to do with his amazing tour guide: yours truly. :)

SO while the rest of the crew was in New York falling deeper into the addiction to ice pops, Jake and I cruised around Miami calling people out as we drove by, ate an AMAZING brunch at the Raleigh Hotel during a monsoon, drank Veuve Champagne at Poplife, and smoked a lot of fucking weed. Best part of Jake leaving? I couldn't even be sad because A. I was delirious from being up all night and B. Just 9 days left till I get to New York for my obnoxious 2 month stay in BK with my buds.

Here are some shots from the weekend, courtesy of 8mts and Popness Party!

Lunch time!

So Jake is on his way to Miami and I just had a silly video chat with Paige and Ryan about topics such as popsicles, sexual intercourse, and tap dancing. Yeah. My friends are cultured, I know.

Anyway, MIami, check out tomorrow night as Jake Destruction kills the stage at PS14 in downtown! I'll be there with my dancing shoes on, so if that's not reason enough to go, press the red "x" at the top of your screen to exit this blog.

Super Professional Amazing Video!

Hello friends,
So last night as I was choosing what video I wanted to upload to youtube from New York, I decided it'd be so much better to just combine them all into one, because uploading takes SO long. So here is the video I made using iMovie with clips from my trip to New York in May. The music was very carefully chosen, and this literally took me a couple hours so just watch it and tell me how amazing I am.

Sidenote: yeah it's 9 minutes, but just watch it without skipping. It's pretty cool in my opinion.

Cool. Enjoy.

I Love My Friends.

between the music and the obi's excitement for realizing he has fire trees, I think this short video clip represents a lot of why my friends are cooler than yours.

Interview with DJ Jake Destruction

Photobucket

Describing his dj style as, "New. York. City," DJ Jake Destruction will be blowin up the Miami stage at PS14 next week, so I decided that Brains for Brunch, being a rather professional blog, should interview this talented young man to let the readers get to know the dude a little bit! Towards the end of the interview, we even let some fans throw some really challenging ones at the guy, and he took the heat, and left the interview graciously.... Check it out!

lex: Hello Jake
asshole respond!

jake:hello

lex: Welcome to the Brains for Brunch blog. Thank you for allowing us to interview you

Jake: no problem

lex: How did you get started djing

jake:I was 14 when i got turntables and some vinyl, but i didnt really "get it," so I stopped briefly. Then when i was 17 I got a pair of really nice Denon Cd decks and a cheap mixer, the store owner was like "Thats like having a mercedes benz with 40 dollar tires," I didnt care, it was whatever. So i started to spin weird experimental electronica at home when i was bored. I moved to NYC and started to go out and decided I wanted to dj again. I quickly made friends and started to get residency's at various bars/clubs.

lex: If you could describe your dj style in 4 words, what would you choose?

jake: I couldnt.

lex: ok... like... 3 words then

jake: to be honest... New York City. I would say that best describes my style

lex: ooo!

jake: because its the city that influences me the most

lex: What about the city? Sorry, if you're stoned we can do this later.

jake: no its fine. just the vibe i get

lex: right on. last question before the reader-submitted questions are thrown at you... what is one song you could hear every day of your life and not get sick of? i just ended a question with a preposition i'm a horrible journalist

jake: hmm, i dont think ill ever get sick of windowlicker by aphex twin

lex: Nice. Ok now time for some reader questions. This one is from Whitney, from coconut grove, florida!
"have u ever wanted to put a kitchen utensil in your ass?" i swear. she asked.

jake: are you serious right now?

lex: yes, i asked my friends what they would ask a world famous dj if they could, and this is what i got.

Jake: hahahhaahahaha ahahahhaahhahaah ahhahahahhhhhaaaaaa

after realizing I was serious.... he decided to respond....

lex: whitney from miami wants to know.... and i think you deserve to give your fans a response.

jake: i dont have fans. but. no. that would hurt wouldnt it?

lex: yes you do... i have gotten a lot of responses. it depends i guess if you choose the steak knife or the turkey baster

jake: ok

lex: but whatever.
this one is from obi t. from downtown miami, florida! obi wants to know, "DO U HAVE THE HIV"

jake: yes i do, and proud to share...anyone have a dirty needle?

lex: i think the homeless guy that sits in front of the UG office in LES does....

jake: sure if the UG office was in the LES, but homegirl...its in the east village.

lex: YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH! I'm the smart one!
anwyays.
last question, thank god...
from anonymous, Coral Gables, fl: "is your coochie off to the left... or is it right?"

jake: cya

lex: thanks for your time.

Check out Jake's mix he made ESPECIALLY for the blog...all joking aside, the guy KILLS IT!!!!!!!
Listen to this shit!
